The Sandhills Chapter of the North Carolina Police Benevolent Association and the Police Benevolent Foundation are asking for your support and financial assistance for the family of Deputy Draper Bost of the Columbus County (NC) Sheriff’s Office.On June 25th, Deputy Bost was killed when he was struck by a tractor trailer while assisting and escorting an NCDOT subcontracting crew on U.S. 74-76 in Hallsboro, NC. Deputy Bost was sitting in his patrol vehicle with his emergency equipment activated in the median when he was struck.Deputy Bost served with the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office for eight years and was assigned as a School Resource Officer at South Columbus High School. School Resource Officers traditionally serve in different capacities during the summer months when students are out of school.Deputy Bost was heavily involved with the DARE program and embraced his role with enthusiasm, including wearing a lion costume for students and community events. During a media interview, Columbus County Sheriff Bill Rogers reflected on Deputy Bost’s impact, saying, “Whenever you’d see the lion dancing around at a DARE program, that was him.
