The Police Benevolent Foundation was honored to be in Winston-Salem, N.C., at Novant Health Care yesterday to present Carrie Crouse Smith with a plaque of appreciation. Carrie, who works for Novant Health, was instrumental in securing a $5,000 donation for the PBF through its volunteer program.Novant Health offers its employees who volunteer the opportunity to enter a drawing for a chance to direct a $5,000 donation to the eligible charity of their choice. Carrie is the spouse of a deputy sheriff, and when she won the drawing, she wanted to direct her donation to a charity that supports the families of fallen officers. Britteny Albert is Novant’s community engagement partner and heads up the Novant Health Care's program. Her husband is a police officer and Britteny became familiar with the PBF through him and Shante Gallagher, who is the Winston-Salem Triad Chapter senior vice president.
